STOP MOTION

-Righteous Apple-

For this picture, I had the shutter speed set to 1600 and the F. to 4.5. I used a small spot light to shine directly onto the apple because the shutter was so high, so i needed more light.

- Match Flames -

For this picture my camera settings were set to the same as the above. However the spotlight wasn't used here because the room light was enough to capture the flames and smoke from the lit match.

- And they Fall! -

So for this one, shutter speed was set to 2000 and aperture to 3.5. Once again the ambient light was strong enough to capture what was needed, so no lighting equipment was necessary. I simply had someone drop a handful of matches to the ground a shot a series of pictures to achieve this. It follows from the concept of the previous fire picture.

- OH Snap! -

For this one, the shutter speed was 2500 and aperture to 4. Even with an incredibly strong light shinning on the pencil, i still needed a low flash to capture all the detail of the wood shards.

- Disturbed Stillness -

This photo was taken with a the same settings as the above picture, also using a huge bright light shinning right above the water. But, no flash was used. A flash created too much of a white glare on the water so I chose not to use one. As a setup, I had a bowl of water mixed with green food coloring and simply had a drop of red paint fall into it.

BLURRED MOTION

- Tune of the Cello -

Here, the camera's shutter speed was set to 2 and aperture to 4.5. I experimented with lower speeds but would only end up with a big blurry blob. Shutter speed of 2 worked perfectly.

- Coin twist -

Nothing too complicated was going on for this picture. I simply spun a gold coin and took the photo with a shutter speed of 6 and aperture of 9, thats it!

- Through the fire and Flames -

Here, the room i was in was almost pitch black, the only light coming from the fire place. I had my shutter speed down to 1 second and aperture at 16.

- Snow Storm Moose -

Once again nothing to fancy to take this picture. Shutter speed was at 2 and aperture at 4. I had to close the lights in the room because to much light was getting in with the settings i had chosen. I like the fact that the background is black, it brings out the focus on the globe.

- Ball play in the Night -

This is my favorite and was most fun to photograph. For this one i had the camera set to "bulb". Once the camera was set on a tripod in a secure location i had my brother shine a flash light into the camera, drawing the outline of my other brother who was standing in as a reference for the silhouette. Once the first silhouette was complete, the flash light was turned off and my brother moved to act as the second silhouette. He turned on the light again and traced the outline. Same thing for the ball. Exposure time was exactly 63 seconds. Because its so dark and the camera only picks up the light, you don't even see my brothers in the picture!
